It Is A Pain To Swallow

Have any of you had sore throat so bad that even swallowing your own saliva is bloody agony? Not only swallowing is a pain, but coughing and yawning also triggers the ache. If yes, then I know how it feels because that's what I'm going through right now. If no, then lucky you, bastards.

After surveying a few resources, whether it's reliable or not is not the concern, I've found out that smoking, viral infection or swollen glands may be the cause of the problem, among others. At first I thought it might've been swollen glands but I've had swollen glands before and it didn't hurt to swallow, just uncomfortable. That leaves smoking and viral infection. Well I went to the doctors and they gave me Erythromycin ES 400mg as antibiotics for the viral infection and instructed me to take it twice daily and to finish the course. Which I completed (finally) a couple of minutes ago...after enduring the pain of having to eat breakfast just so I can take the antibiotics. I had to somehow control my swallowing to reduce the pain, I'm pretty sure I looked like a cat choking on a fishbone. And if it isn't the viral infection that causes my sore throat, then that leaves smoking. Let's not talk about that.

I read somewhere that a sore throat lasts between 5-7 days. If it were to last longer than that, then I should see a doctor and run some tests. Sounds scary. So far mine has been 5 days. The third day I had it, I had a fever of 38.5C/101.3F during which unlike the extremely high temperature for a human, I actually felt so cold that my fingers were pale purple and numb. This sore throat has caused me so much misery that I don't think I can bear it any longer if it does not go away within the next 48 hours.

Will There Be A Day Where People Cease to Ruin It?

Imagine this, you've had a bad day because of a sore throat. But then your peers makes up for it by taking you out on an early dinner and the day seemed infinitely better than when it had started. However, inevitably there's that one incident right after the jolly good time a comment from a stranger ruins the rightfully earned good day into a thunderous storm system. You can't tell your peers what had just happened and why you became moody all of the sudden because a) you don't know how to explain it and b) you don't want to ruin the delicacy of their jolly day.

Anyway, back to the stranger. She was a cashier at a convenient store where I'd purchase a box of natural hair bleach. I went up to the cash register to pay for the item when the plump and significantly older lady (probably by two decades) made a rude comment about my purchase in relations to me. There was a younger lady by her side, also a worker there. I guess the cashier was talking to her colleague when she'd said the rude comment in an obscure way that I thought she was trying to hide what she was saying. Lady, I know I can't speak your language properly but I can understand it perfectly well. And what do you care what people buy from your store? If that's your attitude, then fine, I've no problem of not returning to your store ever again. And if, God forbid, the details of you or the store you work in shall somehow get out there, I wish you good luck with life.

But no worries, I'm no devil's child. I'd do no such thing to ruin a "perfectly nice middle-aged woman" nor her career. Bitch.
